Our very own Charles Beer, Market Manager at Green Park Station, over lockdown has become known as one of Bath's COVID-Crusaders. Appearing in publications such as Big Issue and Bath magazine, Charles' hard work during the peak time of Covid has not gone unnoticed. Charles has managed to bring together regular market-goers, traders, as well as the community, by raising over £1,000 in donations and hand-delivering fresh, organic food parcels from the Farmers' Market to Bath's most vulnerable resisdents. 

We have really enjoyed working in the Ethical Property building. It’s always useful to speak to other organisations in this building about the political story of the day, and swap ideas or responses! There are so many great organisations here that we’re very lucky to be in touch with.

Ethical Property synergy events, such as gardenung clubs, allowed different organisations to find out about each other’s work and do something positive together.

It is great to be in a space with other interesting and grassroots organisations working to make the world a better place.

For over four years now, PHASE Worldwide have operated within a vibrant Ethical Property Centre in Bristol. The environment enables like-minded organizations to share ideas, share resources and make connections, all within a single working day.

We really enjoy the environment and atmosphere as Ethical Property tenants and appreciate the opportunities to network and share good practice.

Colombian-born receptionist Lina started her front-of-house role with us at The Foundry, Ethical Property’s centre in Vauxhall, south London, in 2019. She likes working at the company because of the philosophy, our inclusivity, our ‘eco-friendliness’ and because we pay a fair wage.

Lina first started working with Ethical Property as a cleaner, just a month after she arrived in the UK. We supported her with English lessons at a local college and in busy times she communicates with 200-plus visitors every day. Committed and motivated, Lina has been studying English for five years and recently took a course on business administration and bookkeeping – with the ultimate aim to work in accounting, ideally in Ethical Property!

 “You don’t find a job like this everywhere,” she says. “I feel comfortable here. I like interacting with the tenants.”

We moved to The Green House in 2019, having previously camped out in office space donated or discounted for us in central London. Moving away from the traditional “legal district” to being in The Green House surrounded by charities focused on social change has been a huge boost to our morale as an organisation. What is more, we have been inspired by the community around us here in East London to make it the base for what comes next. APPEAL is the first step in our longer journey towards bringing a non-profit, community-based model for criminal defence to this country, based on the holistic, investigation-focused law practices in the States, such as Bronx Defenders.
