This week, we’re proud to stand alongside over 16,000 accredited Living Wage employers across the UK to celebrate Living Wage Week, a movement at the heart of fairer, better work. Together, we’re shaping a future where work works for everyone: employers, employees, and communities alike.

At Ethical Property, we believe that work should provide a decent standard of living. No one should be in employment and still struggle to make ends meet, not now, and not in the future. That’s why we’ve long supported the real Living Wage, which has become more than just a benchmark. It’s now a vital part of our civic infrastructure, influencing pay discussions far beyond accredited employers. Today, 1 in 8 UK employees work for a Living Wage employer, a powerful testament to the movement’s reach. But the impact goes deeper. According to the Working to Live report published in May, workers paid the Living Wage report significantly better outcomes in physical and mental health, job satisfaction, and overall quality of life. For example, 81% of low-paid workers believe moving to a Living Wage would improve their lives. Those already earning it are more likely to feel their job positively affects their health and wellbeing.

We’ve taken our commitment even further. Our team at The Foundry has worked tirelessly to have the building accredited as a Living Wage Place, a recognition that celebrates local, cross-sector collaboration. By forming action groups, engaging with local authorities, and encouraging our tenants and neighbours to join the movement, we’re helping to create ripple effects that benefit entire communities.

And it’s not just employees who benefit. A remarkable 94% of Living Wage businesses say they’ve seen positive impacts, from improved recruitment and retention to enhanced motivation and workplace culture.

Living Wage Week is a moment to reflect, celebrate, and recommit. We’re proud to be part of a movement that proves fair pay isn’t just good ethics,  it’s good business.
