We measure a range of indicators drawn from the annual accounts and publish them in our Social Accounts each year. For a full breakdown, click here to download a pdf of the complete Annual Report. 1. We measure the financial returns offered by the company, by comparing the dividend per share paid with the dividend forecast in the latest share issue prospectus. At 3.25 pence per share, the dividend this year is equal to the 3.25 pence forecast for 2005-2006 in the second share issue prospectus. The measure is therefore 100%. 2. We measure the capital value of each share in the company, calculated as net asset value per share. This year this is 154 pence, up 9% on last year’s value of 142 pence. 3. A measure of the percentage of all shares on which dividends were waived in the preceding year 2004-2005. This was 10.0%, making a total contribution to the dividend waiver fund of £20,743. 4. A measure of how easily shareholders can sell their shares on the Matched Bargain Market when they need to. This year a total of 211,535 shares were traded on the market, with a surplus of 10,000 shares left untraded at the year end. These were new investors looking to buy rather than existing shareholders looking to sell. 5. A measure of the percentage of annual rental income spent on repairs and maintenance and insurance of buildings. This year the percentage was 10.6%, down 0.9% on last year. 6. A measure of the ‘square foot months’ that our properties are empty, expressed as a percentage of the ‘total square foot months’ for all our properties. A ‘square foot month’ is the amount of square footage multiplied by the number of months for which the property was empty. This is expressed as a percentage of the total square foot months. For the year, the percentage of empty space was 0.5%, the same as the last year. |
