A long-awaited event just took place in Mundo-b : the centre now
hosts 60 solar panels on its roof. The installation this December
will enable Mundo-b to produce its own electricity and decrease its
need for ‘dirty’ electricity by 10%.
Both the purchase of the panels and the electricity they generate
are subsidised by the Belgium Government, which made it a
natural and easy first choice for Ethical Property. We hope that
the Belgian installation will prove the benefits of solar energy
for the company, and we hope to follow suit in the UK in 2010,
especially now that there are promises of further government
support for micro-generation.
The photovoltaic panels made of poly-crystalline cells covers a
surface of 90 sqm on the roof of Mundo-b, which had been specially
designed by engineers to be able to support their weight.
Investment of approximately € 60.000 is expected to be
returned in less than 10 years. Long may the sunshine on
Mundo-B!
