Refurbishment of Scotia Works, an old cutlery works close to Sheffield railway station, was completed in August 2003.

The building lies on a brownfield site and was bought from Sheffield City Council. Grants from the European Regeneration Fund and the Townscape Heritage Initiative aided the refurbishment, which was finished to a high environmental standard and includes a number of innovative features such as building-height 'light boxes'.  The centre houses a number of charitable and voluntary organisations, with a focus on extending learning, development and citizenship in socially excluded communities.
