Ethical Property have been working on plans to secure new management contracts, recycle existing buildings where we feel there is the potential to increase our social, environmental and financial returns by doing so, and identifying new investment opportunities that can increase our impact. In 2019, we continue to make good progress to acquire further space across the United Kingdom.
In late 2018, we saw the completion of our newest building The Green House - in Bethnal Green. This is a fantastic new Centre which is designed to provide office, meeting and shared space for social businesses, charities and not-for-profit organisations in London. The building is almost 50,000ft² and will enable us to meet the rising demand from social change tenants who need flexible and affordable workspace in the capital. The new building will also significantly improve our environmental performance, while simultaneously lowering the operating costs for ourselves and our tenants.
Ethical Property's newest Bristol build, Streamline, is situated within the 'The Paintworks' site, formally a Colthurst & Harding Paint Factory, now a mixed use development containing an eclectic mix of offices, workspaces, apartments and houses all nestled against the banks of the River Avon. The Paintworks seamlessly combines converted Victorian and Edwardian industrial buildings with new builds in a wide variety of architectural styles and is arguably the most attractive and sought after development in Bristol right now. Streamline is named so as the building was orginally designed in the 'Streamline Moderne' style, a form of simplified Art Deco. We aim for the building to open in 2019.
