Co-Housing

Cohousing is a type of collaborative housing that attempts to overcome the alienation of modern subdivisions in which no-one knows their neighbours and there is no sense of community. Usually, co-housing communities are designed and managed by the residents, and are intentional neighbourhoods in that the people are consciously committed to living as a community. The physical design of the housing encourages and facilitates social contact.

We believe that we could replicate much of the work we have done in bringing groups together in offices in the field of co-housing. Although we do not expect to develop our first scheme for a number of years, we are interested to build links with others doing work in this area.

We are currently interested to hear from people who have had experience of undertaking, or who are planning to undertake, co-housing developments and are considering forming a working group to look more closely at this area.
