Sam Clarke
Chairman of the Board
Sam is currently a founder and chair of Stop Climate Chaos: the
coalition of NGOs supporting action on climate change, a trustee
of Employment for the Disabled and a director of the Oxford-based
disability support organisation Able Types Ltd. Sam is also chair
of the Ethical Property Foundation. He is a trustee of the local
Wildlife trust (BBOWT), of Fair Pensions: a charity campaigning
for more ethical use of pensions funds' investments, and is a recent
chair of Friends of the Earth. He is also a director of Network
for Social Change a grant giving foundation.
Sam spent 14 years at Oxfam headquarters, the last four as fundraising
director. He left to take a Cranfield Business School MBA and to
write the Complete Fundraising Handbook. He then became director
of Oxfordshire Mind. After two years he moved to become General
Secretary of World University Service, working with refugees. He
also served on the Board of the Refugee Council from 1992-1997,
as treasurer of the Jubilee 2000 Coalition from 1999-2001 and as
chair of Drop the Debt in 2001.
Sam has a special interest in our environmental performance, governance
and social auditing.
