Andy King bought his first investment property, 82 Colston Street, Bristol, in 1982. He subsequently bought the neighbouring building with Jamie Hartzell, the start of a cooperation which eventually resulted in the formation of the Ethical Property Company in 1998. He managed some of the Bristol properties for several years.

Andy is also secretary of the Portland & Brunswick Squares Association and the Christmas Steps Association, two neighbourhood groups promoting community participation in planning and neighbourhood development in the St Pauls and central areas of Bristol.
