Conscience TAXES FOR PEACE NOT WAR, works towards a world where taxes are used to nurture peace, not pay for war.

We campaign for a progressive increase in the amount of UK tax spent on peace building, and a corresponding decrease in the amount spent on war and preparation for war. We also campaign for the legal right of those with a conscientious objection to war to have the entire military part of their taxes spent on peace building.

Archway Resource Centre provides us with very affordable, ethical office space in which we are surrounded by many like minded organisations, creating a friendly atmosphere and making working here a great pleasure.

Peace Brigades International (PBI) sends teams of international volunteers to areas of conflict, at the request of human rights defenders who are threatened because of their legitimate, nonviolent, human rights work. Volunteers provide international protective accompaniment, which is backed up by political networks around the world. PBI currently has projects in Colombia, Guatemala, Mexico and Nepal, and is considering opening projects in Honduras and Kenya. PBI UK is one of 16 country groups, carrying out advocacy, fundraising and communications, and recruits and trains volunteers. We also launched the Alliance for Lawyers At Risk in 2010.
 
We’re based at the Archway Centre, which is buzzing with various organisations doing interesting and inspiring work. It's also nice being in a pretty part of town (near Highgate Village and Hampstead Heath) but still with easy access to the centre of London.
